Wang Cheng Quan is a National First Grade composer. Since he graduated from the Zhengzhou Institute of Art and the Shanghai Music Conservatory, he has taken up numerous positions in institutions throughout China. These have included the posts of Resident Composer and Conductor of the Henan Broadcasting Performing Arts Troupe, Conductor, Production Director and Deputy President of the Henan Theatre Troupe, Vice-President of the Henan Academy of Dance and Drama. He is also the Vice-President of the Henan Choir Association and sits on the judging panel of numerous Henan artistic festivals and conferences.
Wang is currently the honorary chairperson and resident composer of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ City Chinese Orchestra and advisor to Shangyin Music School (Singapore).
He has composed numerous works across diverse formats and genres including chorus, chamber ensemble, symphonic and Chinese classical music works, as well as music for children’s plays, fairy tales, television serials and radio plays. Some of his more reputable works include: choral compositions “Let’s Laugh”, symphonic poem ‘Li Zi Cheng”, symphonic ballad “Song of the Chariots”, traditional songs such as “Han Feng” and “Tian Xiang”.
In 2005, Wang was invited to be a guest professor at Huanghe S & T College to head the university’s music composition faculty and conduct classes on song writing and composition techniques. He has been included in the China Musicians Encyclopedia in recognition of his artistic achievements and contributions to the development of the arts.
